Recently been breaking out the old acrylics.  I hated painting. In my mind it meant way too much forethought than I was willing to put in to get the kind of results I’m accustomed to with my digital art. So in an effort to give myself a more relaxing artistic outlet, I thought I’d just abandon what I “know” about painting and just go. So far it’s been a lot of fun.

But mostly, it gives me something to do when my girlfriend is painting… hahaha

Just a sketch that I ended up spending a little time on this morning. Still getting the hang of digital inks.

I really like the results I’m getting from this process. I can be loose where I want to be and tight spots aren’t intimidating because I can undo and erase. It might be a while ’til the next time I break out the real stuff again.

Promo piece for the pitch that will also be making some appearances in the backgrounds once it’s colored.

Short break from work stuff while I frantically clean and organize.

Got some ref for the face, tweaked proportions, cropped, added color. C’est fini.

Ended up doing a few more tweaks and calling this done.

I emailed it to her and she tweeted it, which is pretty awesome:

Found this sketch going through my old school files and I thought it’d be fun to paint. I think the assignment was to do a movie poster for a movie about ourselves. It’s “Coming Soon” because I don’t look like this… yet, lol.

Still a work in progress, and I probably won’t finish it for a while. This, and Amanda Palmer, are on hold until I can finish the stuff I’m getting paid for :P.
